My name is Daniel and I love comic books!
When I was really young I never collected any titles or followed a particular character but I would always find them in super-cheap stores like St. Vinne’s or LifeLine, and also at garage sales. I just loved the way they looked and read, they were all so colourful and commanded my attention. When I got to High School, I started to collect more seriously and I have never turned back.
Some of the best comics I have ever read include, Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, V for Vendetta, The Invisibles, All Star Superman, Preacher, Scott Pilgrim, Animal Man, The Long Halloween and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House for a Serious World, just to name a few. My favourite authors to follow in the comic book world are Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, Mark Millar, Garth Ennis, and Gail Simone. Artists I follow include Frank Quitely, Jim Lee, and our home grown Aussie talents, Nicola Scott and Stewart McKenny.
I am always looking for inspiration to my writing and I am working on lots of ideas for stories and series. My dream is to one day to work for DC Comics writing Batman, but I would love the chance to make Aquaman a force to be reckoned with again, yet if I ever do make it to the big league (fingers crossed!), I will never forget that I got my first break at Guardian Comics thanks to Paul. If you are interested in following my thoughts and the titles and stories I am working on you can find them at www.iicb.com.au and if you want to listen to my opinions on a variety of topics, my mate David and I run The Averagers Podcast ([link]). Other things I do in my spare time include playing video games, writing poetry, cosplaying, studying philosophy and theology, and spending time with mates. |
